Ali grew up in Old Bridge and went to college to be a dance major at Montclair State University. After school, she was a contemporary ballet dancer in New York City, performing with Lonne Morreton’s dancers at City Center and an off-Broadway musical. When her niece Lilly was born, Ali decided to take a break from dancing full time and help care for her so that she could stay healthy throughout her surgeries. After a year, Ali started working at School for Children, now Hawkswood School, as an aide and fell in love with teaching the special education population. Within the year, she took the test, enrolled in grad school, and had a class of her own as the teacher. She taught at Hawkswood for four years in an MD classroom before moving to a special education classroom in public school in Bradley Beach.
Ali now has her Master’s Degree in Special Education with a concentration in Low-Incidence Disabilities from Kean University and a post-master’s certificate in supervision. She has been teaching for eight years and absolutely loves it! She has been helping with the Dance with Jay program for three years and her heart could not be happier. She is so proud of the dancers and is always so inspired by their wonderful talent!
