Havana Nights
FRA's 25th Anniversary Gala

The 25th Anniversary celebration for Family Resource Associates, held on June 26 at the Ocean Place Resort in Long Branch, was a most memorable evening!

Attendees were warmly greeted by eight of the young adults who have been assisted by FRA. As they entered the casino room filled with excitement, there was a grand display of gift baskets and they heard the Latin sound of “deSol”, a most energetic band! The room was decorated with fantastic tropical floral displays and offered tropical drink bars and a lavish seafood bar. The children’s art display and a large array of unique items for a silent auction was a wonderful opportunity for all to get that special something.

After dancing and playing at the casino tables, a captivating DVD presentation of the work of FRA was followed by a heartwarming talk by FRA parents. (It was a moment of pride to hear the stories and to see the photos of the babies we have helped over the years, especially since some of them were now in the audience enjoying the evening.) An elaborate buffet dinner, topped by a beautiful dessert room and Havana Cigar Rolling bar out on the deck added to the fun had by all.

Gerard Saydah, FRA Board Member from Middletown, had this to say:

“A Night in Havana was a spectacular event. Everyone had a great time. I was so pleased to be part of this successful celebration of FRA’s 25th anniversary!  My family and I have been involved with FRA for the past decade. During this time we have been deeply touched by the caring, sharing of resources and reaching out to so many local children and their families. Our daughter Michelle, who was just an infant when diagnosed with Angelman Syndrome, has grown so much with the love and support of FRA – her sister and brothers are so grateful for FRA and their role in helping them to grow together and help Michelle enjoy life! It is truly a gift to see Michelle and other FRA children grow to become productive young people who have earned medals in Special Olympics among so many other positive experiences!"
