Augmentative Communication

The Augmentative Communication Program (ACP) at TECHConnection
Located at 35 Haddon Ave, Shrewsbury, NJ the Augmentative Communication Program (ACP) provides options for severely speech-impaired or nonspeaking children and adults who may benefit from using communication devices. At the TECHConnection ACP you can find various communication alternatives and devices to meet your specific needs. These may include picture / symbol systems, communication boards, augmentative communication electronic devices, speech synthesizers and speech output software. For those who have physical impairments, alternative access options like switches, head pointers, eye gaze systems are also available.

We offer quality evaluation and training services ultimately leading you to the most effective communication possible. Scheduling an Evaluation
In order to schedule an evaluation, the individual/school/agency must follow the procedures below:

1) Download and complete the appropriate intake form.
2) Prepare all support documentation as specified on the appropriate Intake Form.
3) Download and Sign our contract authorizing us to proceed and agreeing with the terms for payment.
4) Mail all of this information to: TECHConnection,35 Haddon Avenue, Shrewsbury, NJ 07702

Appointments are scheduled only after all required information has been received.

• Scheduling a Pediatric Evaluation

  This Pediatric Intake Form is appropriate for ages 2 - 21 years old.

• Scheduling an Adult Evaluation

  This Adult Intake Form is required for all individuals over 21.

Payment Information
Individuals who are enrolled in Medicare, must complete the Insurance Verification Form. For all others, please complete the Self Pay Form. It is important to note that we do not submit directly to your insurance company. However, we will provide you with the requisite forms and documentation so that you can submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.

Device Training
When a high-tech communication device, sometimes referred to as a Speech Generating Device (SGD), is recommended, a period of short-term training to teach device operation and promote functional use of the device is often key to facilitating functional and effective device use.

TECHConnection provides these services on a fee-for-service basis. In addition, consultative services are also available to schools and referring agencies to train staff and assure consistent use in these settings.
