WORKSHOP: Learning to Use Proloquo2Go: An AAC App for the iPad

This 3-hour introductory workshop is intended to help participants make an informed decision about purchasing this popular AAC App. Through hands-on training with either the iPad or the iPod Touch, participants will master the basic skills needed to customize Proloquo2Go (P2G) for a range of language of abilities. Specific topics to be covered include: configuring the P2G settings, creating and linking categories, customizing pages, using photos, as well as procedures for backing up and restoring your custom vocabulary. Advanced language features of the software will be reviewed.
Objectives
Participants will:
1. be able to determine if P2G is appropriate for their child or student
2. gain competency in programming and backing up P2G
3. be able to customize the device for your child or student

Speech-Language Pathologists, Special Educators, Parents

*Joan Bruno, Ph.D., CCC-SLP, has over 25 years of experience working in the field of AAC and has published and presented nationally and internationally on a variety of topics related to AAC assessment and intervention. Joan is the author of the Gateway page sets, directs an AAC camp and currently serves as the Vice President of the New Jersey Speech and Hearing Association.

WORKSHOP: Jumpstart Your iPad Experience
This 3 hour workshop will cover many areas of using the iPad. Participants will learn how to maneuver around the ipad, creating and organizing folders and downloading apps. With thousands of apps to choose from, learn the best places to look for the apps you need. We will explore and download apps to help students with reading and writing challenges of various age groups. We will also demonstrate apps to help students with Autism, cognitive challenges, and students needing switch access.
Target Audience: Teachers, CST, therapists, parents (beginners or slightly experienced)
Bring your own iPad if you have one.
