Tara Anne Waters

Tara is proud to say that she was involved in FRA from the beginning in 1979 as one of our “Founding Families”! After graduating from the infant program, Tara went on to “Our Chance to Dance” and continued with many FRA classes and programs. Weekly, Tara works three jobs; as an office assistant at the ARC of Monmouth; at the American Red Cross; and she is also a greeter at Appleby’s. An avid learner, she enjoys taking classes at Ocean County College. Tara is also a Eucharistic Minister at her church. One of her passions is International travel and she is frequently touring the world! She actively participates in Special Olympics, winning gold medals in golf and other sports, but is particularly proud of her Silver Medal for Rhythmic Gymnastics at the International Special Olympics in Ireland! Tara is most proud of living independently in her own condo! As an FRA Ambassador she has reached out to families with infants born with Down syndrome, golfed in the FRA Golf Outing, spoken many times at events and is a self-advocate. Tara has presented at numerous large conferences and smaller workshops. Tara says, “having Down syndrome has no meaning to me because I am an active person and I have a full life.”
