I think my child has a delay in development. What should I do?

For children between the ages of birth and 3, the State of New Jersey Early Intervention Program will conduct a free evaluation of your child's development focusing on six developmental areas: gross motor, fine motor, cognitive, communication, social and self help. If your child has a certain degree of delay, he or she can receive services through one of the state early intervention programs, of which FRA is one. Depending on the needs of your child, services may include speech therapy, physical therapy, occupational therapy, and developmental intervention with a special education teacher or other professional. The services are designed to help your child grow and develop by teaching you the skills to encourage progress.
