SPECIAL EDUCATOR - Project SEARCH Instructor  

Seeking experienced, certified special educator who has worked with older teens and adults with disAbilities. Candidates should be dynamic and enjoy connecting with the staff/community in a hospital setting. Project SEARCH is a unique 10-month employment transition program hosted at Monmouth Medical Center. It is a national program offering work internships for up to eight students or young adults with significant intellectual and developmental disAbilities. The instructor is responsible for a curriculum to address work readiness, financial literacy, workplace safety, independent travel, and other important skills. The instructor also is expected to provide individual job coaching to the interns in their departments, direct communications with the interns and their families, and ensure that all necessary reports are completed. The instructor works on-site as part of a team that includes an employment skills trainer (also on-site), an employment specialist, a business liaison from the hospital, the various supervisors of the internship departments in the hospital, and a Steering Committee. This is a full-time position with students in training from 8am -3pm Monday through Friday. The program runs from September through June and requires some summer work as well.
